Children's Art in 3D was a three-month program aimed at introducing children to the exciting world of 3D design and printing. Through a series of 10 workshops, participants developed technical skills in Tinkercad, mastered 3D printing basics, and learned artistic techniques to finish and present their creations. The project concluded with a community exhibition, where the students proudly showcased their work.
Summary
This project was designed to combine creative exploration with practical skill-building, giving children the opportunity to expand their horizons in both art and technology. The workshops covered the complete process—from design concepts to 3D printing execution and artistic finishing. By fostering collaboration and creativity, the program equipped participants with skills that could serve them personally and professionally in the future.
Challenge
The main challenge was making advanced technology like 3D printing accessible to children while ensuring the program was inclusive and cost-free. Additionally, securing funding and resources such as equipment, materials, and experienced instructors posed logistical and financial obstacles.
Solutions
The program was meticulously planned to balance educational content with creative exploration. Workshops were structured progressively, starting with the basics of 3D design using Tinkercad and advancing to complex printing and artistic finishing techniques. The project team secured funding from local organizations and businesses to cover equipment, materials, and facilities. By hosting sessions with a local partner, UNOCA, the initiative reached a diverse audience while minimizing costs.
